Speaking of computers, I finally got my back up and running...after 9 months. The look of the forum has changed a lot. feel like a newbie again.

It's always nice to be able to fix one's own computer, etc. - saves money, gives you a little more feeling of control.

not really, you tried to delete the driver? shouldn't you try to add a different one, you don't have to remove anything, i don't think, you need to scroll through the menu and see which software is listed that's compatible with the hardware you have in the computer and click on, then don't forget to reboot the hard-drive after you made your selections. another good thing to do overnight is schedule maintenence for the harddrive, that way any clusters that may be 'gliched' from removing a program will run smoother. hope this is what you need, good luck.

With Compaq's, I think they have specific drivers for their systems. reload the driver and see if it'll recognize it again. If not, you might have to reload XP, reload the driver and see if that works. Probably should get in touch with Compaq's tech support if it still doesn't work and u still want to use the onboard sound. I personally don't care for onboard sound. Just go and buy a good soundcard, install it and it'll have drivers that's compatible to win98. Remember, to turn off the onboard sound in your CMOS. BTW, why did u downgrad to 98?

This isn't entirely about computers, but I figure it's as good a place as any. Is anyone else having to login when you got on to the site lately even if you told your computer to save the info or is that just me and my computer?

See, the first problem is that you're using a Compaq. See that little Compaq decal on the front? It's the mark of the devil. I can't help until you've had an exorcist through.

Wannabe - I have been having exactly the same problem, not that it really bothers me, though.

Nice comeback - LOL. Phil Collins !!!!! ha ha ha. How old do you think I am? I haven't listened to the Motley's in many a year, true enough, but I'd advise anyone to check out 'Shout at the Devil'.

Nope. I listen mostly to aggressive Electro-Industrial. Metal too, I suppose, but there hasn't been much going on since the record industries thought it was about time Metal was cool. Now that Metal is cool they can ensure that all the 15 year olds can spend their pocket money and be different from big bro or sis.

Current Metal interests include:

Rammstein, SOAD, Korn (although the last album sucked the big one), Tomohawk and a few others. If you like your Metal unrelenting and heavy check out Godflesh however if you like Linkin Park it might be abit heavy...

Incidentally my favourite Metal band is Faith No More but I'm unsure if your old enough to have heard of them. Check them out if not - a lot of this yawnsome 'Nu' Metal is based upon them.

I mostly listen to music that sounds like someone has taken a jackhammer to a metal drum and put some drum loops over the top. SOmetimes there's a vocalist over the top but not always.

LOL - Phil Collins indeed - chuckle.

so how did it work out? I've only heard evil things about compaq also. I would never buy a compaq. For some reason they tailor their drivers specifically for their systems...so you can only upgrade from them. The bad thing about going back to 98 is that Microsoft stop supporting it. If you want to switch OS then go for Win2000.

Iwant2bafencer: I dunno cuz i just log in. guess it doesn't help saving it to the computer. contact the adminstrator of this site. Maybe they have answers for you.

What's wrong with Phil? I like Phil....doh, maybe I said too much. haha.
