if you're 13 years old you can take your time and really learn everything correctly without developing a bunch of bad habits. some people on the board have a lot of experience and can give you better tips, but for now, i would stay with your new coach, follow his/her instructions [hopefully he's good], make a timetable for yourself, or a set of goals:
1. by the time i'm 15 i'd like to ________
2. by the time i'm 17 i want to select a university with fencing
3. i want to schedule some extra classes such as running or jogging
4. remember everyone has their own goals and even a coach may not promote your fencing as much as you would like, you still have to take the lead in your schedule.
5. you have to be serious
6. you can't drink or smoke

Hi there.

There's a very similar post to this elsewhere on the site, which can be found at http://www.fencing101.com/vb/showthr...&threadid=5330

Just so as the posters don't have to rehash everything again There's some great tips there.

Shay,

Simple advice:

read the similar threads from other newbies, there're lots of info there already.

Enjoy yourself both reading and fencing.
