    Hernia

Hi there! I've had a two years off fencing for due to a bilateral hernia operation, and then a year later a femoral hernia operation. Needless to say I now have as much carbon fiber in me as a Tour de France bicycle! Given all the surgery I'm not sure if I should go back to fencing. As an Epeeist i'm worried about causing myself more problems.

I was wondering if anyone else had any advice, thoughts, or have been through something similar?

You had an operation for the girl wizard from "Harry Potter"?
Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you!

Of all the strenuous things you can do, fencing seems pretty low on the list depending on how you fence, I guess. I know several people who have had hernia surgery, all fence without a problem.

    But talk to a doctor.

Nope, hernias develop in areas of muscle weakness. Exercise will improve muscle strength. Be sure that you don't just row, have a more varied regime or you will miss many muscle groups.
