    Writer's Block

OT: Okay, so I hope this is what this place is about, if not feel free to reign me in and shut me down. Is it where each poster adds a bit to a story? Like telling a story round a campfire? I hope so- here goes....

As I fumble with my keys in the deserted car lot, I hear the approached of purposely muffled footsteps. I pretend to be ignorant of the noise until they’re right behind me, and then I swing around, gun in hand to confront whoever it is.

Seeing the face, the face I see in my darkest hours of despair, I lash out, and strike with the butt of my weapon. I don’t want him dead- not yet. There must be a reason for him coming to see me, if he was going to kill me, he would have done it instantly, not risking detection.

“You son of a 'female dog'!” I yell, throwing him to the ground with all my weight.

“Stop!” He replies, loud, forceful, but not panicked. For a few seconds we merely stare into each other’s eyes, neither breaks. “You have to listen” he urges. I spit in his face.

“Listen? To you?” I stand up, keeping my aim on him, and my finger on the trigger. He nods, and I kick him hard in the ribs for good measure. “Why should I listen to you?” my words are saturated in disdain.

“Because you have to, because if you don’t, then… then everything’s over.”

    “What?”

“Don’t you understand, everything’s gone to Hell.” Now I can see a small glint of pleading desperation in his eyes, almost totally hidden by his mask of control. “You have to trust me.”

“Trust you? Ha. You’re a professional liar, and you expect me to trust you?” he tries to stand, and I kick him again. “You killed my father!” I scream “You killed my mother!” the blood rushes to my face, contorted with rage “You’ve tried to kill me more times than I care to remember, and you want me to trust you? To listen to you? You’re a pathetic invertebrate scum-sucker, whose moral dipstick is about two drops short of bone dry.” He laughs.

“And I’m our only hope. If you believe me.”

    Love it!

You’re a pathetic invertebrate scum-sucker, whose moral dipstick is about two drops short of bone dry.

Awesome start - I wish I could insult like that!! I'm still forced to resort to profanity if I want to get enough force across. It just don't work well.
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

AHA! Yet another writer! Yes, I said Writer. It never ceases to amaze me that those with the talent are the ones that do not see it in themselves. Such is life I suppose.
Well, anywya, welcome my dear. Have a blast and wrote to your heart's content.

What drives ME nuts is that someone who has the desperate need to put pen to paper, or finger to keys & has stories swirling in their head most of their waking (& sometimes sleeping!) moments, is a writer...regardless of being published or not! I've been a WRITER for 21 years...since I was 8 years old. I've adored it. I've lived it. I've got the "writer's bump" on my finger where my pen rests on it while I write (I use a notebook & pen for first drafts). If I'm not careful, I'll fall into what hubby lovingly calls "zoning." He knows not to try to talk to me then, or when I'm writing, because I just won't hear him.

So, if you do any of this, you're a writer. Paid, unpaid...published, unpublished...you're "one of us."

    Btw...good beginning!

PS...if you're interested in writing, I highly suggest Writer's Digest. It's a great magazine with lots of great information.

OT: Jump in as soon as you want, I've been stuck on it for a while, so I thought it'd be fun to see how other's would continue.
