| Lee, I am David Leow, Angriff is Koh Yeow Chua from NTU. I'm the epee coach for SJI, and you wouldn't know me because I hardly go down to Clementi for the foil events. Too busy. Don't worry Angriff I won't be taking part in the FSC. Have other obligations.

Lee | None in Singapore for sure.. Fencing Singapore isn't that well off As for other countries, I don't know, any prize monies up for grabs in, say, the World Championship circuit? Anyone who can shed more light on this issue, please share what you know with us. I'm curious too. |

| Mr. Lee,
So far I've seen only one person giving you a name of a school. Here's another one: the INS in Paris - my French spelling may be off - Institute National des Sport
To be a fencing master is like getting a Master's degree in Sport. From what I know, a French fencing master does all 3 weapons. The 'East bloc' countrries require them to do their own weapon plus one.
Here's a site for you to peruse.
I know a fencing master who wanted be a fencing master even though he wasn't a fencer. He left his home country - the forme rcoloinial master was the French - went to the INS and did become a maitre d'amres. He eventuall became the national coach for one of the Scandinavian countries in Modern pentathalon.
He has since written a book on fencing.
Most of the 'horror' stories about, shall we say, a plain life as a fencing master/coach is true. Don't believe that US movie wherein the fencing master owns his own fencing club and drives a Jag, it doen't happen.
Best of luck.

Lee | There are a few in the U.S., at least. They don't pay much, but the winner at the Duel in the Desert ( http://www.duelinthedesert.com/purse.htm) gets U.S. $1000. The winner at the Hawaii open also gets U.S. $1000 http://www.fencehawaii.org/pcshi.htm. There are not enough events of this sort, and not enough pay even if you win every event in each weapon, to make a living like this. But if you win, at least it pays for your trip (not from Indonesia, though). |

| Who's in Indonesia?
It seems like Counter-Attack needs a geography lesson...
Mr. Lee is in Singapore. http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/...k/geos/sn.html
Check it out.
Yes, singapore Sling was invented in Singapore's Raffels Hotel, one of the better hotels in the world.
A population of 4.45 million on less than 700 sq. miles (about 3.5 times the size of Wshington DC).
Indonesia on the other hand...the owrld's largest Muslim country...

PK | Sorry Mr. Lee, that was a big typing error. As a counter attack, I actually am quite good at geography, PKT (thanks anyway for your extremely pompous reply), but it was several hours between when I read Mr. Lee's post and when I wrote a response. Error ignored, the distance from the tourneys I was refering to, which was the point, is pretty much the same, i.e. a long flight or a REALLY long swim.

| Dear Lee,
I truely advise you to move to USA. Europe? I dont think so. Here are the best ones, the competition is too serious. Besides only few contries may offer you good conditions...
But if it is your dream and you feel like it, be brave. Sometimes I feel sorry I didnt go some place else...so...you`d better do it. |
