France Lames Collapse

Got this e-mail from the store I ordered in Canada. News to me...

Heard from LEON PAUL this a.m. and here is some shocking news.
FRANCE LAMES have collapsed (their term!) and with the
subsequent world shortage of blades ..forges are flat out
trying to keep up with the demand. France Lames was of course
one of the large forges of the Fencing World so that certainly
will put pressure on existing forges, like LEON PAUL etc.
It will be interesting to see how many of the sabre blades I
ordered, I will actually receive. They said they are "sending
a few days from now".
I truly believe the news above is why we are waiting so
long! And with our apologies!!

Their quality had faultered over time I've been told (never used their stuff myself though).

There is a little more on the American Fencers Supply Web Site.

http://www.americanfencerssupply.com/

France Lame was closed down by the police, because of fraud and other business dealings. It seems that the alleged has been caught after fleeing and is in jail waiting trial.

Heh, and I'm sure that THAT corporate fraud will somehow be attributed to the policies of the Bush Administration, too...

Hardly possible. I doubt that any of the top counsellors in the Bush administration actually knows what a "parry four" is, or what is the difference between a maraging blade and a non-maraging blade...
