OK,
Well, maybe I was wrong in the approach and am "man" enough to admit it.
In future, I will just let the smart ass's have their fun and stay out of it.
If I see something that I feel can be answered to the asker, I will email them myself and let all others have their "zinger" fun.
For now and future, take care.

However bear in mind that many of us who have been around F.net for a while know you by reputation, even if not by name, and we appreciate your insights. Therefore I would ask that you still chime in and correct responses which are completely wrong (which happens often enough even when people aren't trying to be cute and snarky). For example, in this particular instance back in the second post Wetmelon had the right idea but apparently had never tried it before himself - your guidance could have been most helpful at that point (because I'll be honest and admit that I wouldn't have known how to respond - LP saber guards are uncommon enough that I suspect most people have taken Morale Officer's approach to that particular problem). -

Gary, it is possible to be both helpful AND snarky...or helpful OR snarky. Knowledge and wit are not mutually exclusive, or even antithetical.
This is a forum on a discussion board, which is one of them there social media things everyone's talking about. It's not a technical manual; it's not even a customer support forum. It has many purposes, and not everyone has the same reasons to be here. de gustibus non disputandum est...you know?
None of us except Craig really have any right to impose what we want the boards to be on anyone else. That's all I'm saying. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Gary Spruill This just shows you missed (or deliberately ignored) DangerMouse's point. Zingers may not be helpful but neither is 'Prove you're as clever as I!' or snit fits. You didn't get the answers/replies you wanted, I got that. But is it really purely because no one wanted to be helpful or that no one knew the answer? Or could it also be chalked up to others having answers that didn't fit your setup and/or weren't interested in 'playing your way'? Or -- gods forbid -- having demands on the other side of the keyboard that led to your 'Well, its been two hours now since last post, do we have any takers here?'
I'm not a fencing powerhouse of any sort* and I'm okay with that. I'm not here to show off my Awesome Muscles of Fencing Knowledge Awesomeness. I'm hear to learn, to keep tabs on what's going on in the fencing world, and to contribute an opinion or information when I feel it might be useful. Yes, I drop irreverent/irrelevant comments. I'd rather do that a dozen times over than take myself too seriously and be a right prig once. (And NO that's not what I'm saying you did here so don't even.) That's just how my brain works. Others would rather never comment frivolously, others would rather do nothing but zing/snark. Horses for courses and all that. Craig's general policy has been to let the inmates here run amok to a large degree and in return, the inmates largely behave themselves within his framework. His asylum, his rules. I'm sorry they aren't working for you but is your decision to hold your knowledge to yourself and only the 'deserving' recipients really a solution?
Do I have an answer for the saber padding question? Kind of. I know how I would take on the situation were it presented to me in person but it wouldn't be of any help here so I kept quiet. Not because I didn't want to help but because my input would be less than helpful. And I'm 'woman armourer' enough to admit it. Yes, I'm one of those mythical creatures. And I'm a professional smartass. How I manage to get out of bed each day with such a terrible burden is a mystery to me. And yet, I struggle on...

Thank you for the info below.
I have given this much thought in the last day and a half.
I have two issues that are turning in my head and am working through both of them.
1. I want to help fencers learn how to maintain and repair their own equipment. There is way too much knowledge to just hold on to.
2. I am really sick and tired of the monday morning arm chair armorers out there that feel it is really cool to just set back in a dark room in front of a computer somewhere and try to be insult snipers to anyone that wants to try and learn something.
Here are my thoughts:
I am going to start my own blog, dont have a name for it yet, but it is going to be totally geared towards armory. I have/going to contact Dan DeChaine, Ted Li, Rocky Sorenson, Scott Harkey, Tim Lomis and others + myself to be the only folks that can answer a question from a poster. Actually, I got this idea from a "smart ass" remark from this very posting. I am hoping to get a clean "smart ass" free environment that fencer's can freely ask anything that partains to armory that they want and a true approved armorer will give them a factual answer and guidance with their equipment needs and repair solutions.
This way we can manage the snippers out there that want to join or ask "smart ass" questions to disrupt the group.
Note: I am a partner as a vendor, and of course I will look at marketing avenues at the same time, same as Craig does here. Also, Craig is a friend of mine and in no way want to offend him - you cool with this Craig?
Got any ideas for a good name? I am going to "GoDaddy" next week to land on a name. This is truely an open invite for the insult snipers out there and I know it, just take note that you will be exposing yourself in doing so!
Thanks!

Array Twister, I look forward to reading your blog, as much as I looked forward to getting Merg's book. I find the armoury section of f-net to be much more serious than the rest of f-net. The vast majority of posts ARE helpful and those that aren't... well those of us who are looking for answers tend to skip over.
When it comes to armoury, I only really listen to a handful of you guys. The same with coaching, I'll listen to Jason, Allen or Mr E over somebody just chiming in. It doesn't take a lot of experience with f-net to know who makes sense and who doesn't. I actually agree with twister that many of the threads on here turn into a mess of insults or bad advice. I read back through this entire thread and could not find a single post that I thought qualified as useless and snarky other than one of yours. The closest I could find was indicating that the LP padding is a poorly designed product and it is more efficient to throw it away and buy something that is easy to install than spend the time messing with it. To me, that is not a snarky comment. The only entirely snarky post in this entire thread is the one below where you decided prototoast's agreement with the advice to throw away the LP pad meant that he does not know how to install the LP pad. You then imply that all he does is post snarky comments. Originally Posted by twisterfencing Again, I will take this as a "I don't know".
Thanks for trying/playing!
C'mon armorer's, I have already given you the first answer!
Feels a little funny when an answer requires you to really know something. Not some whitty comeback or to challenge someone elses knowledge.

Thank you fencergrl,
Will let everyone know the outcome to this.

Thank you DangerMouse,
I was not refering to this post, I was discussing the entire "Armory" section. Not going to go into this further. I have already several times now. Not worth the excerise.
Thanks again,
