I think I saw him lose to Cody Mattern in repechage... He might not have made _a lot_ of points, but I think he got some...

| That's right. I talked to Soren right before the bout against Cody. He lost to Horvath in the round of 32 and met up with Mattern on the losing side (pretty tough when you had to meet Horvath in the first round of 32, and THEN meet "Matterhorn" Mattern on the LOSING side). So Soren was in the round of 32.
Cody lost to Martin Lee to get into the round of 16. I saw the last touch and it looked like a desperation run by Martin. But it worked. 15-14. Then he lost to some french guy named Sallembien.
Hansen lost to Lee in the first round of 32 as well, then lost again to someone else.
BTW, Lee took second in the Junior Men's Epee, losing to Kip Cox. Bay Area epee fencing is moving on up. NY epee fencing is slowly dropping.

Why do you have such a h***-on for NYC épéeists?
BTW, if you look at the Columbus NAC, 10 out of the final 32 in ME were from NYC. Not bad.
Let's just say that the Bay Area in producing more top ME. I don't know that NYC is declining. Or, rather, ME is developing in areas other than NYC. This is a good thing for US fencing.
If you'd have to pick the center of men's épée in the US, it would still be NYC.

Lee's opponent must have made three attacks, all missed as Lee is running forward, the other guy running back and Lee making attacks of his own while in the fleche, then on one foot making the final touch. Paolo | NY Epee fencing is still pretty strong, but perhaps, I would not qualify it as a center of epee fencing in the US, at least not right now. There are still a lot of very good fencers, but there are also very good epee fencing clubs and teams in a lot of areas of the US, Texas is producing some strong epee, so is Ohio, and so is California.
I think this is about to change though. I think that the PWF is starting to produce some very good epee fencers and that Hungarian coach that they have at Fencer's club is I heard very good.

-f | That's a good idea! Instead of running contests where people must find out who will be in the top 8 at a particular tournament, we should have contest where people actually try to predict how long it will take the results to be published!!

| heeheeee - Eric you are so funny!!!!
Probably by 1/25/03 is more realistic.......
It shouldn't take much more time to actually verify the results in regards to the repechage, as well as being able to perform what-if analyses for the Junior world team. |

There is one in 2004, though (if I did my math right).

Duh... I didn't even see it was _JUNIOR_ men's epee... Sometime I plan to stop wondering why people look at me strange...
