Re the hard-sided SKB bags -- which one (slimline vs. deluxe) would be better for epees (french grip, if that matters and, if possible, I'd like to carry at least the mask in the case as well)? And do they constrain your choice of rental cars or do they fit in most trunks? -

Array I have to take the train to another city tomorrow. I recently bought a skinny weapon bag from Absolute, and though I can't fit my mask in it I can fit everything else (two sabres, uniform, shoes, lame, etc.). I hate taking the wheelie bags on trains, and my triangular bag is really uncomfortable to carry, so this is a good solution. The mask goes in my duffel, and if I don't pack too many clothes and take a back-pack it works out fine for a five-day trip. I may even do this when I have to go to Europe for Vet Worlds.
Most wheeled bags are just too darn unwieldy. -

Array I wanted to do something similar with my "coffin," but I don't have one of the really good skb cases. Mine is a 2nd hand (bought it from gatun.cz's daughter, actually) rather thin walled case. I had wanted to put a net in the lid in for my whites, but never got around to it. The most I've done to the inside is put some "loops" on the top on the inside to hang my body cords and mask cords (I keep them in 'coin bags' I got from Office Max). The outside, on the other hand, is covered with various patches. "Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened." ~Cora Harvey Armstrong

Array Sam,
What, no wet bar? Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -
