    Good day drilling

Interesting work out today. In addition to my normal chair lunges, my wife was helping me with reaction time. Aside from my straight lunges she would also drop or flash a paper plate to the wall or toss it across my field of view and I would have to pin it to the wall. Granted most of my opponents will not be standing up and a lot of the pins and plate flashes were above where we will be sitting, but it was the reaction for which we were going. I got a few yellow and some red cards jumping the gun and trying to anticipate where the plate would be and when it would be thrown.

All in all I am glad someone suggested the drill and I am pleased by my reaction time. My wife was having way too much fun doing it and trying to fake me out. But in addition to he person suggesting it I have to thank her for doing it. Now, if only my opponents at nationals in three weeks will use a paper plate and not a sword. I am all set then. I still have not fenced a real persion since NAC

I've had brain surgery, what's your excuse?

I was reading in a fencing magazine from the '70s that described this exact drill, but dropping a glove (and with a lunge, heh). I think the article was about Santelli's club but I don't recall.
