Array FRED takes his first NAC/Nationals preregistration In the Vet ME Team event.
(And it looks like quite a team, actually!) http://usfanac.askfred.net/Events/wh...ament_id=11625
Oh, yeah:
Summer nationals team event preregistration is now taken via FRED at a special site site up just for the USFA at http://usfanac.askfred.net. The national office has been given an account on FRED's helpdesk for this tournament, so if you have questions about Nationals team preregistration, feel free to ask them there and tag them with the category "National Tournament Question". http://support.askfred.net

Array Wow. This has been a LONG time in coming. Congrats!
One note: On the site logo, it says "North Americas Cup" instead of "North American Cup". "PiL is the Blue Screen of Death for ROW." --jeff -

I hope just a start....Congratulations!!! -

thanks. -
Way to go, Peet! But put a link to the new site on the AskFred home page. -
This is great news. Everyone should email Kurt and suggest using askfred for all national tournaments in his suggestion box. -

Array Fabulous! Hopefully, the next step will be posting of results on FRED, so they tie in with the rest of everyone's competitive results... That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -

Are there links to this and the ROC AskFRED on the regular AskFRED website? -

Thanks, it is hard to find the ROC/NAC askfred websites.
Links on the USFA website would be helpful too. http://usfencing.org/competitions/roc
(There is a link to NAC Askfred on the SN information page.) -

Array OK, I went to register a Vet sabre team*. I entered the names of all the team members in the spaces provided. Then on the next page was, amongst other things, the message "You searched for" and the four names, and---spaces to enter the names AGAIN. This time with drop-down menus that contained only one option, that being "Last Name, First Name--Club ( Division ).
It seems...unnecessarily redundant. Particularly since that first page didn't indicate that I was merely searching for names.
*In the end I didn't; have to consult the others about the team name... Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Hi Inq-
I have several answers for you:
1. Just like when you preregister for an individual event on FRED, when you enter a name, you are searching for fencers in FRED's database. FRED asks you to choose from his list of known fencers so that he can associate all of a fencer's preregs and results with the same person.
2. Make sure you're only entering the last name (or even just a few letters) in those fields at the beginning. The search is by last name so as to prevent problems with nicknames and such.
3. The FRED helpdesk is the preferred method of getting help with anything on FRED: http://support.askfred.net support@askfred.net

Array Yes, but my doing that doesn't help others here who may have the same questions. Don't you get tired of answering the same question 80 times?
Anyway, again, the "search" did not result in any names being found and offered in the blocks on the next page. There were only the "Last name, first name--CLUB ( DIVISION ) messages there. And I know that we are all in the database... Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

If I knew the names of the fencers, I could try it myself and thus be better able to help.
re: answering the same question 80 times: I'll have to do that regardless, and the helpdesk has tools that make doing that much easier. It also helps me keep my support requests organized. It also enables me to spread the support burden among more than one person.
