One, two, three! At a six-weapon junior world cup in Budapest, Hungary last
weekend, U.S. junior sabre women captured gold, silver and bronze! In all,
U.S. juniors won four medals and two more reached the final of eight.
Sada Jacobson (19, Dunwoody, Ga./Nellya Fencers/Yale '04) won the gold in
the Junior "A" Women's Sabre competition, and Mariel Zagunis (17, Beaverton,
Ore./Oregon Fencing Alliance) the silver; Sada's sister Emily (17, Dunwoody,
Ga./Nellya Fencers) captured the bronze.
In the Junior "A" Women's Foil competition, Hannah Thompson (19, Rochester,
N.Y./Rochester Fencing Center/Ohio State Univ. '05) won the bronze.
Terrence Lasker, Francisco Martin, Charles Washburn and Peter Burchard all
accompanied the group as referees.
