    Tunis GP Results?

Is there a link to the results for the WS GP in Tunisia? I did the requisite Googling, but didn't find what I was looking for - hoping somebody else might know.

    Thanks,

I'm sure the finals will show up on the FIE video channel in a few weeks.

Today is just the end of the first day, so if they don't have a website for the competition, perhaps it will be available on the FIE website tomoorow after the scond day is done.

Kharlan has frequently been a formidable team fencer, capable of some very streaky fencing. In the past, she has sometimes had difficulty keeping her head for an entire 15-point individual bout, especially if she gets behind.

That seems to be changing a little bit. If she gains a bunch of confidence this year in the individual competitions, Olga may become hard to beat.

They're ranked #1 and #2 in the world (respectively). With only two head-to-head bouts this season I'm not sure a significant conclusion can be drawn from the data.

Don't you think she has that confidence ever since the Olympic team event? And now being #2 in the world and all. In the past 10 events, she lost in the round of 16 only twice. 2 losses against Mariel (destroyed), and the rest against Bogna Jozwiak (3 points @ Dallas), Keum Hwa Kim (2 points @ Tianjin), Leonore Perrus (4 points at Foggia), and Bao (6 points @ Moscow).

I think she's already pretty hard to beat for anyone not named Mariel Zagunis..

    In-Progress men's results from Tim's twitter feed:

    Luther Clement 3-3
    James Williams 2-4
    Mihail Etropolski 1-4
    Ben Igoe 0-4
    Teddy Weller 0-6

Note that Ben had only a pool of 5.

Tim had a bye to the second day and therefore skipped pools.

No news (yet) on any first-day DE bouts for those advancing out of pools.

I would imagine she has a huge amount of confidence right now. So far this season she's competed in four events, all GP. She's won three of them.

I expect they'll continue to run into each other moving forward, as they've both clearly demonstrated the ability to get to the final bout of a GP a significant percentage of the time. Could make for an interesting running story over the course of the season or, if it continues, the rest of the quad.

Yingying Bao, interestingly, is the fencer who eliminated each of them during the one event this season that each failed to make the final bout (in each case the elimination came in the L16).

Bao is another one of the baffling Chinese legion of WS fencers; looking like a world beater one event, and then flaming out in the early rounds the next.

It was interesting that Tan Xue, a mainstay of the Chinese squad for many years, couldn't make it out of pools in Lamezia earlier this month.

More from Tunis on Tim's blog.

US WST took bronze (lost to Russia in the L4, beat France in the medal round).

    Interesting tidbit from Tim:

Some of the most interesting news around the tournament is that the Chinese National Coach Christian Bauer may be heading to Russia to head up their program. Stay tuned…

Sounds like a young fencer who hasn't hit her stride, or a talented fencer that's being overtrained.

Of course, if results were always 100% predictable, we wouldn't even have to send fencers to compete...Just because it's not epee doesn't mean you can guarantee what will happen on any given day

Must have been a heck of a match vs Romania!
That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again.
