Uniforms for short arms & legs?

De-lurking to post. Hey, so I've been wearing an Uhlmann World Cup jacket & Olympia pants since 2005. Now that the jacket's getting gross, and I'd like left-handed pants for once in my life (bought in a rush from BG & didn't notice until too late), I'm in the market for new set of whites.

I'm female, average height with a medium-large frame (5'6", 150), and I have short, muscular limbs and a long torso. The Uhlmann sleeves & pants are really too long for me, so this time around I was thinking about ordering an Allstar Ecostar uniform in a "stocky" size. I wanted to see if anyone (especially women) had some experience with this size range, as far as how short it actually runs. I'm mostly worried that I won't meet the overlap requirement.

Alternately, are there other manufacturers whose FIE gear tends to run shorter in the arms & legs and narrower in the shoulders than Uhlmann? I'm looking to spend $500 max, preferably less. I know I could always get it tailored like last time, but I'd really like something that fits me decently off-the-rack, especially for the leg length. Thanks.

This may not be 100% relevant to you but you might choose to investigate further:

Being an odd-shaped person myself I ordered my uniform from PBT fencing. I sent them my dimensions and they forwarded them to their Hungarian manufacturers. The result was a perfect fitting uniform, albeit non-FIE. The price was very reasonable.

I decided against getting an FIE Prieur uniform because I was told that the sleeves run short. If you catch a sale, you can get one for much less than any other FIE uniform.

That being said, you ought to be able to get the sleeves shortened on any jacket without too much trouble. Also, there aren't really any downsides to having extra length on your knickers.

Thanks, I'll check out Prieur. I know there's technically nothing wrong to having long knickers, but I just find them uncomfortable-- the fabric gets all bunched up around my knees. I actually did have to get my WC jacket's sleeves shortened by about 3 inches and taken in at the shoulders/back by about an inch.

I was just thinking about Allstar this time around b/c a friend had mentioned that when she tried on a regular-sized Athens jacket the shoulders were too narrow and the sleeves were too short for her, but the World Cup fit her perfectly. I'll probably end up driving out to BG to try on the regular stuff before ordering anything in a short/stocky size.

You might not want the Prieur if your shoulders are narrow: I hear that they're a bit "stocky."

For just over $500 you can get completely custom-tailored FIE whites from Triplette, or non-FIE custom for a lot less. I love the gear they made for me.

    hmm

I'm kind of interested in this as well. I'm a girl with a similar build and am also seeking off-the-rack options to replace a World Cup jacket (42) & knickers (44). For jackets, I'm thinking of trying LP Team 360, FWF and Negrini Evolution. Not really sure what pants might work, unless I go with one of the German short sizes. Any suggestions?

I have an LP Club range jacket - I'm an average/slim guy - 5'9" and 150 and not muscular, and the jacket is what I'd describe as a slim fit.

(I also hated the Transpor lining, as it cuts air circulation considerably.)

I cut the Transpor layer out, and it still fits snugly on torso and arms (which are the right length for me - 34" sleeve size). IMHO, the LP jackets are cut for slimmer people.

TCA jackets, OTOH, have been downright chunky in the past - the first off-the-shelf one that they sent me for sizing would have been great for a linebacker.
