For the record, I've been there before. Barring retirement from active competition, I'll probably be there again. Several posters on this forum can say at least the same...some can say considerably more. While I'm willing to bet that all of the competitive athletes share similar sentiments I'll only speak for myself:
Dude you're coming off whiny as ****. Sometimes things like this happen. It was published before the event. Honestly, it's one event and unless you're close to making the team it's more important that you get a decent seed and qualify for this year's nationals. We know you're not even close to making the team b/c you wouldn't be complaining about this if you were ( you'd have both known already and would have enough other results to cover up that discrepancy probably). It's not impacting your shot at world cup attendance assuming youve gotten some points at any other time so I guess I have to ask it you are worried you won't get there again? Regardless of your answers to any of these I can assure you that it's time to put on your big boy drawers and start winning more bouts. Not time to ***** about the pts you didn't get for fencing a weak event. I now dangle to the left....my tassle. Get your minds out of the gutter.

I don't want to pile on, but the reason you didn't get help is the tone of your first post. There are many people who knew about this, probably several who posted before I did. If you want help you have to get people to want to help you.
You're right. This place isn't the place to get important fencing information. You should look to your coaches, parents, senior fencers, and USFA officials. Rather than throwing a fit that it took a volunteer approximately four hours to answer your question, it would be much more useful to ask yourself why your own channels failed to do so.
For context, I am a foilist who didn't even go to summer nationals, yet I knew about the saber strength factor. It was published beforehand. I'm not going to search the USFA website for it, but Tim Morehouse has a post regarding it. There is also a related thread here: World Championship Qualification Changes: Pan Am Team Decided Now, US Nat. effected
It's fine to be upset about it. Other people were ten months ago when it went down. You're just a little late to the party. -
You said earlier you have been training in Europe, so it seems to be more in your favor. In any event, the point of the US National Team is to beat people from other countries, so we pick the people who have demonstrated the best evidence of doing that, by doing well at World Cups. Being able to beat other Americans has proven less relevant to the overall goal. -
fair enough. but it still sounds a little biased towards people with more means. -

I want to disagree with this. I have frequently gotten important information from this site, sometimes information which was not available anywhere else before it was here, sometimes information which was in fact on the "official" website, but buried. I am very grateful for the information posted here, and I am also glad for witty people who spice up a conversation with funny quips. Although I will admit that sometimes it is hard to tell which is which. Similar Threads -
