Had an idea

Ok, so I was looking to buy some new gear for fencing. Primarily an new jacket and underarm protector and I had an idea.

Why not make all jackets have sewn in underarm protecters. THat way evey one doesn't have to worry about two peices of protection and they only have to worry about one piece. Plus, you don't have to worry about buying a proper underarm protector for tournaments, everyone already has them attached to thier uniform.

I am not sure if this idea has already been thought of, I just thought it was kind of cool.
Let me know what you think. I don't have any real plans on pursuing the idea but I just thought I would get other peoples opinions.

It has been thought of before and was discussed as recently as this thread.

Disadvantages would include increased cost of replacement (when the jacket wore out the underarm protector would also have to be replaced), increased difficulty keeping it clean (extra layers would make it more difficult to wash thoroughly and also increase drying time), and the necessity to remove the jacket in order for the referee to unsure that everything is properly fitted (how else would they make sure that the seams do not align - which is one of the main requirements of an underarm protector).
