taking in a lame? / lightweight lames

    Hi,

After my lightweight lame from AF almost failed at JOs after only 3 months of use, I've decided it's time to upgrade to a nicer lame. I want a lightweight one, so I was looking at the Leon Paul. Unfortunately, the smallest size is still too big for me. Does anyone have any recommendations for how to take in / hem / whatever a lame? or is there another reliable lightweight lame I could buy instead?

    Thank you!

I think the LP lightweight is one of the best lames out there, period.

I'd email LP and ask them advice on tailoring. They do it, so it's only in what the technique is. If all you are doing is cutting and hemming, I think there is no problem as long as the outer surface of the hem is conductive.

I think you may have some more problems with taking apart a seam, cutting, and resewing it, but I suspect the way they do it is just to keep the conductive surfaces touching each other all along the seam.

I'm fond of the triplette ultralight lame.

    Also, they perform custom tailoring.
Often in error. Never in doubt.

I completely agree about the LP lightweight lame'. I love it. It feels like a light t-short when worn, and you can wash it in the machine. Be aware that the blade marks leave black streaks that look a little like someone took a felt tip to your lame at first. You'll get a few remarks from people about that until they get used to it. "Who the heck did THAT to your lame'!?!"

Hm, I would like to get the LP lamé then, but I emailed the people there about tailoring over a week ago and still no reply.
