| Vniti Blades I have been looking all over the place for Vniti blades and every vendor that has replied back to me either was out of stock or couldn't purchase them for me. Does anyone know a vendor that has them in stock?
Thanks

| Blue Gauntlet has some. I saw a whole bunch of them there. Plus Amanda is a great person to deal with. Not like the a$$ at Blade. |

| Vniti I used to use these blades back at Ohio State, and I can vouch for them. They are like sturdy. I would get them again if I could like find them. You know?

| I am not sure if they are sold out or not but I am fairly sure Triplette sells these blades. Never used one myself but I may have to give em a try. |

| Tripplette I did check with Triplette. However they said that they were sold out at the moment and unsure of the arrival date of their next shipment. American Fencing Supply also carries the blade but they do not have any in-stock and not sure when they can get it back in. Oh well...

It used to be called the All -Union Scientific and Research Technological Institute. I am not sure, but I believe Vniti is an acronym of that in Russian. They make FIE blades, that are usually cheaper than most others, mostly because of the exchange rate and their push to get hard currency. Fencing is not their only business. They make many items where there is a need for tight tolerances.

| I just spoke with Scott Harkey at Sword Masters, he has them right now.
Amanda at BG also has them in stock right now as well.
Walter at Triplette has them, yet in short supply.

| The last time I talked to Josh at Bladerunners he had a few and trys to keep them on hand as that is one of his prefered competition blades. It is one of mine for that matter. These swords manage to be both durable and flexable and seem to me to be similiar to the all-star superblue maraging at a better price.
You can link to both bladerunners and swordmasters off of our club page (blatant attempt to generate web traffic ) which is www.strangebreezes.com/cvillefencing and just go to the links page.
Goodluck!

| I just got a Vniti epee from Blade, where they're on sale, complete epee for $87.00, with the FIE Vniti blade.
Not so sure I like it though...itsa tank...a friggin' baseball bat. No wonder they last. The blade by itself is 192g. compaired to a Fr.Lames FIE blade @~160g. Two other eppe blade I have are also in the 160-165 g. range. However, balance-wise the additional mass appears to be more towards the forte. |

| Oops... Maybe I should have mentioned that the FOIL blades are very nice. The epees are like baseball bats... which some of you have just figured out. The foils however balance nicely and have a good flex and a decent life, although not as long as the top of the line BF stuff.
As to the epee, I have heard they last forever (because, as Artisan has noted, they are tanks) but they beat and trap well, and if you have a fast parry and strong arm to negate the weight, the added momentum to beats and traps can prove disconcerting to an opponent. At least on the level of epee that I fence...
The lightest (and most flicky) non FIE epee blades I have found are the SG stuff that can be gotten from Blue Gauntlet. SG also makes a crazy soft foil that you can almost flick yourself in the forearm with!

| Update... Well, I have recieved my Vniti foil blade from B. G. I have now been fencing with it for a few weeks. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The blade fits me quite nicely. I haven't purchased a epee blade yet. Once my Uhlmann blade goes I will more than likely replace it with the tank, as Artisan has stated. Then again, I have always like the heavier equipment, hmm ... odd. Oh well. It's what I like.

| This month's American Fencing I don't know if any one else saw but there is supposed to be a web site for Vniti in the USA. However I did go to the site, http://www.vnitiusa.com/ , but all it said was Vniti USA on it. Very disappointing, for the moment. But it would be nice to see what will come of this website. For now I can only hope.

| Piccolo,
I noticed that too. I thought surfing over there might give some additional information on the company and particularly availability, but, as you say, the website is mightily disappointing.

| Vniti USA Well, there is some parts of the page up and running. But the entire site is not functional as of yet. But there is progress, which is good. I hope they finish the site soon.
