Array Naming your weapons Am I the only one living in enough of a fantasy world to name my weapons, or are more of you doing it? My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts for doing it, but hey, who says I'm not?
I've given my epees names and personalities, just for the sake of it.
My first weapon's Lucy. She's my main weapon and the most balanced one, good both at offense and defense.
The second one's Lily. She's the fastest, best at quick parries or pre-emptive PiLs.
My final weapon is Kari, who is the most aggressive of the three, preferring to knock my opponent's blade out of line and force her way through a parry.
Their personalities come from the time I still used French grips, because Lucy had a pretty featureless grip, Lily's seemed to be a little more sensitve and easy to control, and Kari's was heavier and thus more suited for force.
Am I just a moron or do more people do stuff like this? "Do not presume to test my power!"
"Awh, can't I presume a little?" -

Array I believe you may find similar threads via the search function.
General consensus is yes, some other people do but the vast majority do not. Many consider naming individual weapons to be a badge of scrubdom right up there with waxed moustaches and piratical bandannas.
edit:
Please don't interpret this as any kind of judgement or admonishment from me by the way. I don't really have an opinion either way on the topic, just that this has been discussed before.

Array I don't think you would count what I do as naming them - I call them things on occasion, complain about them a lot, occasionally love one - but beyond 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 - no. However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally take a look at the results. ~ Churchill

Array I've been known to name my foils. I named my electrics, but not my dry foil. Don't know why! -

Array I have two. I call them "my FIE blade" and "my backup/loaner." No points for creativity for me. -

And colored equipment.
And jacket sleeves painted like Yakuza tattoos. ( Dear gods. )
Sometimes I wish I had one of those "facepalm" pictures to post.
( OTOH I'd probably wear it out from all the use it'd get. ) Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array I really wish I could find the appropriate clip from Assassin's Creed II that didn't have some whiny nerd or frat boy talking over it. But eh, I guess this will do: http://www.teamfortress.com/heavy.htm
Although no, I don't name my weapons. I might consider it, though. Hm... -

Hm. Then again, good luck finding anything other than Captain Picard. -

Array I have one foil named Rusty and two named Darryl.
. -
"Working", "Probably working", "Needs fixing", and "Busted".
I use "Probably working" on people who name their weapons. -
Named my foil, STEAL
I got the name when my friend called my foil a stupid piece of steal.( don't know why he called it that) It stuck. I even have the name enscribed on the blade. Dumb name, I know. Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't -

I wax my moustache but do not name my sword! "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it." -
