    Surrounding himself with advisors with affiliations with Bush and Karl Rove did not help his cause. Following the advice of these people to "suspend his campaign" didn't help McCain's cause. Not following through on doing anything visually constructive during that campaign suspension hurt him. Declaring he wouldn't be at the debate and then being there with nothing resolved didn't help him.

    He came across looking like he didn't know what the hell to do and I think that's because he didn't. Finances were never McCain's strong suit and the people he had as financial advisors were some of the same people who had created the darn mess.
