Array A Plea.... Could everyone PLEASE run a virus scan on their computer, just so you dont have to do what I have spent the last 2 days doing...
ie. rebuilding my HDD after an attack of Bugbear.
I lost everything... had to take it into the repair shop to get the atual virus removed cuase I didnt know I had it.... then had to install and run Nortons to find all the files it had deleted....including my MSc thesis, 4 weeks work, 3 consent forms, an agenda for a government meeting next week as well as all my links/icq messages/mail boxes etc... I am STILL reloading and re installing 12 hours later.... Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls! -

Array Thanks Z,
Will do so immediately.
P.S. Sorry about your thesis, did you have a backup? Don't take life so seriously... You'll never live through it. -

Array IT got worse... I rescued my thesis and all my work and thought I had transferred it to a zip drive....after I had reformatted the HDD I found out I hadnt transferred my thesis. Could find any of my back up copies either.....finally found out I could still access my school email even though it should have been shut down when I left and found a copy lurking in my out box....THANKS GOODNESS. Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls! -

Array I do not understand why people feel the need to write viruses. Zelda, that was a scary, scary story. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

My theory is that it is the anti virus companies that releases these viruses so that they can sell more of their stuff. That just my theory though, no conclusive evidence have been found to prove this. In Deum Veritas, In Deum Caritas -

Array Watch "Mission: Impossible 2" and "Resident Evil", and read Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six". It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC -

Array One of the viruses I got that was kinda funny was the typo virus. I found out when I was on one of those internet chat deals. Confused me for a bit, I'd be trying to type an l or something and it would come out an x or some random key way on the other side of the keyboard, not all the time, but sometimes. Was more amusing than damaging, I usually wipe my hard drive every year or so anyways and always backup anything I care about. -

Array New to computers in 1983. I finally finished my first graduate program term paper...leaning back, feeling good; I stretch my legs out and knock the plug out of the wall.
backup? what's that? Never again I vowed. Thesis? You must have freaked. -

Array If you want funny things to happen to term papers, there was a woman I knew in college who was afraid she'd forget to bring her disk with her term paper on it with her to the computer lab for some last minute editing so she put it on her refrigerator door with a refrigerator magnet so she'd make sure to remember it.
