By the way, for those of you using Chrome or Safari, you can now watch many YouTube videos via HTML5 so you can avoid using Flash.

It's still very much in beta (e.g., the quality will not be 480p) but, personally, the missing features are worth not having to use Flash.

If you're using Chrome or Safari, you can activate the YouTube HTML5 beta here:

    http://www.youtube.com/html5

If any of you use Vimeo, they've also started rolling out HTML5 support. Let's all hope Flash is on its last legs.

Also, avoid watching my poor bout with Buikevich.

It was a World Cup, not a Gran Prix.

Hey, thanks for posting all of these.

I have to say I am split watching this Festival of (One) Lights. It seems like more and more that "correct" attacks are being defeated by the opponent just extending into the attack. This is nothing new, of course, but it seemed to be happening even more often. It also seems that the game sometimes drops to hand-hunting and a very real aversion to attacking deeper targets. Did it seem like that to you?

But maybe that is still the bad taste of the hanceanu v zalomir bout, maybe the worst and most boring top level bout that I have ever seen.

But thanks for making these videos and for putting them up. It is much appreciated.

No, not really. I think that the tighter timing as well as the rules changes regarding the end of the attack have made sabre a lot more refined and precise. You can't get away with charging down the strip with your eyes closed because you will get locked out. To make a good attack you need to have precise control over the distance and always be ready to parry the attack in prep.

that explanation is a little over simplified, but i do think that picks and flick counterattacks while running away are becoming more favorable in this day and age. and i also think that the zalomir hanceanu bout was the most boring bout ive seen since williams rogers from tuscon 2007... but thats what happens with teammates sometimes: they know each other so well that they are scared to perform complete actions and then bouts like this develop... i would be really surprised if that video got a lot a views

you remember correctly. i am in the process of cutting them up which actually takes a hellishly long time... especially with all of the school work that is suddenly being dumped on me... i may be slow but i promise they will be up soon. believe me, i want the views as much as you want to watch them
