Array Instant Replay at NAC D Did anyone else see the video replay used in Jr Mens sabre at NAC D? It was used in the semifinals and gold medal bout. At least one call was reversed at 14-14 in the final (there were probably one or two others but I can't remember them specifically. The setup looked fairly simple. It would be cool to see it used on a wider scale. -

Array No, should that happen my miming of the 'video' gesture would be robbed of all comedic force. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Also, they had a version of the replay system running on one of the strips in Pittsburgh. I don't think they were actually using replay though. I think it was just to get some of the officials acquainted with it.

Video replay was available during some bouts on the finals strip.
These are not the same and were not on the same strip.
Due to some confusion, the athletes were told that video challenges were not available on the finals strip during at least one bout where it was (apparently) intended to be available.
I saw and heard no official announcements of the availability of video replay, either in advance or at the site of competition. After a bout where the fencers were told it was not available, subsequent conversation at the BC table implied that it was intended to be available during all bouts on the finals strip. That said, I didn't see any sign of it's availability or use on the final day of the tournament.
Note that all of the above is based upon observation as a participating athlete, spectator and coach. I heard nothing official at any time about video replay and whether or not it either was, or was intended to be, available for use at this tournament. The only time I saw it in use was after a bout in which the fencers had both, apparently, been told challenges would not be available. I did not see the JMS finals referenced in the OP.

-B Video replay was available during the D1ME semi finals and the first part of the first JWF semi. The system crashed during this bout and when it came back, the fencers were told there could be no challenges but that the referee could refer to it. The second semi followed the same rule in it's entirety. I think we had full replay for both the D1ME and JWF finals but I won't swear to it. I was sitting next to the monitor and scoring for the epee..a couple of calls were reversed. I initially had some scepticsm about replay but it looked good to me. My view of the monitor was not adequate to comment on the foil.
In any case, it would have been nice to have had it during Sunday's D1WE final.... -
