    Can American's fence in Japan?

I will be moving to Japan, but I want to continue fencing. I don't speak Japanesse yet, and I will be located in Fussa, which is an area in or near Tokyo. Where-ever Yokota air base is located! So is there any place that you may know of that uses english when fencing? Or possible private lessons?

I would recommend you contact Master Yool Nam. Yool coaches now at Nellya Fencers Club in Atlanta, Georgia. You can probably contact Yool via the Nellya website : www. Nellyafencers.com

Yool trained 12 years in Tokyo for his Masters in fencing. See his bio at link: http://www.nellyafencers.com/coachstaff.html

Yool is Korean (1980 Korean Olympic Team). I met him several times and is very helpful.

Good luck. I used to spend a lot of time at Yokota AB as I am retired USAF. Nice base!

Want: FWF Epee Points/Barrels, other random epee crap. Trade?

Keep in mind my information is WAY out of date, like GW1 out of date, but when I was there IIRC there was a small club on base at one of the rec facilities. At Tama maybe? Contact base resources or the rec center to get more current info. Assuming of course I am not confusing it with Kadena. Or Anderson. Or...

I didn't know there was a border issue between Japan and the US.

I fenced in Tokyo once in the early 70's, and off-and-on in Osaka in the 90's. Referreeing and lessons were all in French. My Japanese is minimal, but fencing-related communication was no problem.
