Array Conan VS Leno Who else thinks that it is BS that NBC is pulling this crap? Gay Leno isn't even funny. I hope he dies. In case you couldn't tell, I'm with Team COCO. What do you think? Is there even an excuse for keeping that corpse on? Bury socialist healthcare with Ted Kennedy.

I couldn't give a semblance of a $hit about this issue.

Array Okay um....who hopes someone dies? Let alone a perfect stranger. That's kinda crazy. Even for you. It's not even that deep. They are both going to be paid and have shows somewhere regardless. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt in this case and assume it's just age speaking. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." -Anon.
Are you even allowed to stay up this late? Go to sleep because you have "school" tomorrow and you need to be well rested to lead your band of misfits. I mean Republicans. I mean racist Republicans. I mean unaware racist Republicans.

Array Conan is the most arrogant dumb **** who's ever walked this planet. I hope he dies. Jay Leno isn't funny enough for the Late show, but he's a trillion times better than Conan. For a total of 2 stars. Array Jay Leno and Conan are both kinda bland and unfunny to me... but if I had to pick, Conan is funnier.... "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it." -

Array I haven't watched Jay Leno or Conan O'Brien, but I have read a few articles lately about this raging, earth-shattering controversy. And I have to say, I find it hard to feel sorry for someone who gets paid 45 million bucks to not do something.
Pay me just a fraction of that, and I won't do the Tonight Show either. -

Array I prefer Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert, myself

Array Leno can be very funny with funny sections of his program (Headlines, 99cent store). The other half of his program can be woeful. Personally I found O'Brien full of himself and rather ponderous.
What I do not understand:
1) Why is Leno the bad guy in this? He was sacked from his show when he was leading in the ratings. O'Brien lost about half of the viewers *including* the 18-25 demographic (although not as many of those) and not all of those to Letterman.
2) Why does anyone still care who is on at 11.35PM or 12.05AM? Do people watch these shows at those times? FWIW I record them and fast-forward through the crap the next day. Surely I am not the only one! Were it not for the HD recorder I would have abandoned the show for the Stewart-Colbert tandem long time ago.
3) If the figures are correct, even at the peak of Leno's show the numbers were only about 5 million. Why does it take Haiti to knock this affair off the front pages? -

Array I'm with Chase as far as the team Coco. RebelFencer's Awesome Quote of the Week:

Leno reminds me of a dirty old uncle who embarrasses everyone at family parties.
Conan I have seen little of. I just keep thinking of Chuckie from the horror movies -- scary dummy kind of thing. -

He agreed in 2004 or 2005 that he would retire from TTS in '09 and turn it over to Conan, much like Carson gave him his own chance in the early 90s. Except as 2009 approached, he decided he didn't really feel like retiring after all. So NBC, in an attempt to both keep their word to Conan and make Leno happy, gave Leno his own show at 10:00 which was a spectacular failure. In addition, the weak Leno prime time show essentially sabotaged Conan's chances (which were already a little iffy, given his style of humor and TTS audience). And now, Leno gets the show back.
Basically he pulled a Favre, except without the success, and is being rewarded for it.

Array Agreed? Or "agreed"?
I think that unless we were in the room when the negotiations happened, we can't know anything very reliable about them.
Anyway, my opinion: Leno writes funnier jokes, Conan is the more comic personality. Leno is not particularly amusing physically, Conan's jokes are seldom funny. You can't really compare the two guys.
And, I don't watch either of them, so...yawn. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array i actually wept a little bit when conan got all emotional at the end of his show.
Conan is better than Leno because whilst they are both capable stand up performers Conan is first and foremost a writer - he lives in his own head and it makes him more human - more relatable and privy to vast storehouses of strange and wonderful mercury that leno isn't.
Also he isn't as Jaded as Leno - like ol Co Nan said - cyncism is the wost emotion - it needlessly closes doors and shuts out life - we have as a society been in this postadolescent haze of overly-jaded self-awareness, where all our mistakes and faults and vulgar animalism is played back to us over and over again - the easier route is to become cynical - not only about ones own life but the human condition as well - the more ardorous path is one of learning from the worlds mistakes and than forging into new and novel territory - basing our actions and our outlooks from a higher operating system.
Throughout initiated traditions worldwide their has always been a nebulous and mystical link between the Fool and Divinity - not some silly jester but an individual unique and driven by an unnamed will who defies cliche dancing on the edge of oblivion.
If you had to choose the world would be a much better place if it was filled with people more like Conan than Leno.
