Avatar? Why did mine suddenly vanish? Of course saying that it will most likely show up in this post Score 3 strokes, 4 seizures and 2 brain surgeries

I suspect it might be related to the recent malware-through-profile-pic incident.
I noticed that mine disappeared rather recently, as well...

I contributed money to Fnet (go green) and was then able to upload a custom avatar again. I was not able to upload an avatar as a non-green member. My fencing philosophy = quantity over quality. Eliminate the rest periods! Fence all three weapons! 15 touches for Vet DE's!

One of the things that confuses me is the randomness of the avatars appearance and disappreance.
My avatar and user photo have gone from my posts, and my profile page. Similar to other people. The avatar shows up under the CP avatar section, but I have no option to upload again.
However, the avatar still appear in the various things like user messages, friends lists, and social groups.

oi...extremely lame.
Edit: It looks like you can see your square av on *others* profile pages. Example: I navigate to my Profile page (User CP). I can see the AVs of those I am friended with, but not my own av. If I click a friend's av--one who I know I've left a comment on their page--I can see my av associated with the comment I previously made.
