Clubs in Houston? I will be working in Houston the second week of January, and will bring my gear if I can find a club where I can fence foil on weeknights. Can anyone in the Houston area give me the run down? I will be staying downtown at the Club Quarters on Fannin Street (off Rusk and Main), and need to get around by public transportation or a short (i.e., inexpensive) cab ride.
To forstall the suggestion that I look at the USFA website listings--thank you, but I have found that contacting someone in town is the fastest and most accurate way to find out which clubs fence what weapons, at what level on which nights and how easy it is to get there.
Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide, Houston fencers! -
Salle Mauro is the strongest foil club in Houston, for sure, and one of the higher ones in the country. It looks like they're not an impossible transit by Public Transportation, according to Google Maps. Somewhat closer, you might check the University of St. Thomas. -

Array Try the Google Map displayed at the top of this page: Fencing Clubs: Gulf Coast Division
You can make it larger and zoom into Houston and figure where everyone is. The pins are placed atop the actual practice facilities, NOT the address where the club gets its mail.
I think most also link to the clubs' websites.
Hope it helps. Similar Threads -
