    Michael Marx relocating?

I hope I'm not divulging classified information here, but I have heard that Michael Marx is relocating to Massachusetts permanently and will be coaching at Boston Fencing Club.

Does anyone else know about this? Does anyone know why he would relocate like this? I think it's cool and interesting and good for new england fencing.

    Anyways - discuss?

Didn't know that. I know he was planning on doing a clinic there, and doing some work with their club in some regard. No idea about moving permanently.

Definitely a good thing for new england foil and epee fencing!

Also no idea, but I do know he has taken a less active role at NWFC since Sebastien, Simon, and Darius were all hired. Of course, he also had a kid during that time, so he may have just been ready to step back a bit.

i would be surprised if he was relocating permanently, or I think I would have heard something about it. Maybe Darius can weigh in on this thread.

Michael is at BFC in Boston for some amount of time. Specifics will remain speculation, until Michael or somebody on the BFC BOD adds to the discussion. If you have a question, please ask him directly. If you contact me via PM or email, I'll give you his email address, but for spam reasons won't dump it in a public forum.

The NWFC environment is still Michael's baby, and we're committed to working within those institutions -- albeit with our own personalities added! He continues to be a part of the present and future of the club; everybody should be excited by what we're doing with the Foil & Epee summer camps. (I'm not sure that information gets divulged yet)

This is great for fencing in New England. It'll be fun to see another group of people with exposure to his material!

Lead story on the BFC website is "Michael Marx Named Boston Fencing Club Director of Fencing Operations".

I'm sure I'm speaking for everyone when I ask you to stop ruining threads engaged in rampart speculation by introducing facts. It's a bad habit of yours, and it seems to be getting worse.

I agree 100% with you. When one has too much idle time one tends to lose focus on and engage in useless speculations...

As to Michael Marx relocating, he is a very decent person and a good coach. Wherever he'll hang his coaching gear I wish him good luck!

I'd like to point out that his relocation to NC to become the assistant coach at Duke lasted only one season. Never did hear the whole story on that. As such, Boston could be a temporary move as well.

He was only planning on being there for one season. Sometimes stories get muddled when transferred through word of mouth over these internets.

On behalf of the internets, we demand an apology and immediate retraction.

Groucho Marx and his Duck were committed to a multi-year effort, and there was no seasoning involved. The Duck's nickname, I heard, however, was in fact Muddler.

I hope that sets you straight!

    Michael Marx

Actually, I'm a fencer at BFC. Michael has come, and has brought Carlos with him. He's been coaching us for a while now, and he's completely revolutionized the system. His warm-ups are amazing,(Evil Ball, and such, if you've heard of it...)and he makes us do 5 push ups every time we ask an irrelevant question. Believe it or not, It's hilarious. He's a great coach, and I believe he said that he'll teach at BFC for a year and move to a different school after that. I just wish I could learn as much as possible from him.

    More to come, anyway.

I could use some new warmups. Please to describe evil ball warmups, and anything else you got.
