Police hunt for sword-wielding man in Gilroy

(12-21) 20:13 PST Gilroy -- A sword-wielding man reportedly stabbed another man with the weapon early today in Gilroy, police said.

Police are searching for 52-year-old Lee Brazwell, Jr., whom they described as a 5-foot-9 transient with brown hair and eyes, weighing about 140 pounds and wearing blue jeans and a denim jacket.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was stabbed at about 5:30 a.m. at 5920 Travel Park Circle in Gilroy. His wounds were not life-threatening, police said.

The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived.

They have his height, weight, clothing, hair and eye color, but they do not have any details on the type of sword he allegedly used. This is disappointing.

    My first thought:

"Short, transient - must be a foil fencer."

Although the level of violence and short bout duration is suggestive of sabre.
My fencing philosophy = quantity over quality. Eliminate the rest periods! Fence all three weapons! 15 touches for Vet DE's!

The report indicated stabbing, which does suggest foil or epee, but without knowing whether or not the victim was stabbed in the foot it's hard to narrow it down.

Gilroy Police Department arrested a local transient Monday morning after he allegedly cut off part of another transient's right ring finger with a ninja samurai sword.

A ninja-samurai sword. The mind boggles.

Too bad for the victim that there wasn't a pen handy.

Should be an easy investigation for the police. Just work your way through the Macleods in the phone book until you find the right one.
