When final results are lost or screwed up?...

Just curious: What happens if the final results for a tourney are lost after an event but before being reported to USFA HQ?

And has anyone seen an example of an entire competition's validity being contested or called into question?

I was at recent Scottish Open. The results were VERY poorly handled. THe computer crashed and the organisers who were running the pools didn't [apparently] know how to run it on paper - idiots! THings went ok[ish] for Epee and Foil however the Sabre was cocked up. The initail seedings were wrong and then the DE was run strangely. In effect the Sabre results were completely wrong. The organisers also [this is a rumour] took so long to send the results to the BFA that the competition was scratched from the calendar. All in all a complete balls up.
