the hunt for the magical epee grip

I am a saber fencer by nature, but i have been poking around in epee( no pun intended) more and more for the lack of saber events in my area. I am becoming pretty good, not to toot my own horn but the point is that i have been on the hunt for THE MAGICAL EPEE GRIP. I have pretty much tried them all from the visconti to to the belgian short which i am using now with some success. A friend of mine has a zivkovic gII and i really like the way it feels has anyone else tried one of these and if yes do u have any feed back. I would like to know what u think befor i spend $15 on one lol thanks. www.zivkovic.com

The magical Epee grip would have to be the French. Excellent point control and the ability to add a few extra inches of reach by posting the grip (I.E. Holding the weapon at the base of the grip). There are tradeoffs to the grip. You will loose strength, especially if you choose to post (which I rarely do). I have heard it said that possibly up to 50% of internationally ranked Epeeists use the French grip.

You're on a search for something that doesn't exist. The magical grip is the one that works best for you. Everyone has a preference; it's better that you do a search for previous grip discussions, because this will ultimately turn into a flamewar.

I had one of those once upon a..........

It seems just like a dream...I was once walking near Redwood Creek when I bemoaned how my point control sucked and if only i could find the magical grip all would be good in my world. Suddenly from the dark deep waters a magical grip appeared and floated to me on gossamer wings. It was beautiful. But as soon as I gripped it I saw that it was attached an intruction book. Two hundred pages long. To use THIS grip I had to first prove my worth by developing my body until I could break a sword with my bare hands. I should be able to run like a cheetah and have the endurance of a gazelle. And most importantly I had to climb the sacred mountain and find the holy man whose name was Maitre D'armes. Only then would I ever be able to wield the power of the Magic grip. After much contemplation, and not a bit of regret I chucked the grip back where it came and went and had a bunch more beer.....

Too much fricking work that magic grip.
