Uhlmann sabre lame

At Greenville a uhlmann sabre lame came to the booth for a repair. I notice the tab was to small by the rules. Thank god the armourer showed common senes and pass it. I know some armourers would have failed it for what is clearly a manufactor problem and not the fencers, for what a person paid for it could be right

My Uhlmann sabre lame has a tab that's 1.5 cm x 4.5 cm, so it's also non-conforming by the rules. I bought it in 1998. It has passed twice at NACs in the last year.

Several of the lames that Ron and I submitted to control at Jr./Cadet Worlds (i.e., full equipment control, gabaret and everything) this last year also had the technically non-conforming tab, and none were rejected based on that.

Mine is also too small. I have been "warned" twice at NACs, both times by the same armourer, but otherwise all has been copacetic.
