| American Fencing 'Best Website Survey' It should be interesting to see the results of the USFA magazine survey on the best websites related to fencing. There are a lot of cookie cutter sites out there and not enougth sites with great content. I thinks fencers are thirsty for information, articles, stories, etc. celebrataing the milieu of the sport. I hope one day a print magazine will be developed that takes a holistic view of the sport that would be on the newstand monthly. Until the participant base or interest in the sport grows I would settle for a solid, interesting and timely website that looks at the 'world of fencing', foriegn and domestic that is content rich. I have seen a few unsuccessful attempts at creating such a page in the US but the ones I found that come close are foreign.
Lets preview some contenders that one would hope will make the survey. I think a greater portal to start your search is http://fencing.start4all.com/ .

| I also saw the survey. I think a lot of American Fencers visit Craigs site and hence the survey has evolved. This site has generated a lot of fencing excitment. Our discussions and argements, catfights and ninja like sudden attacks have helped our cause TrEMENdousLY. |

| I also saw the Survey. One of those girls does not belong in the picture. Actually none of them do. What were you thinking. You're nuts. College humor gone awry. You keep messin up with your girlfriends and they'll get hurt. |

see what happens when the votes are to be faxed to a 617 number, which happens to be the number for Big4OurBritches, which happens to be owned by a ZFS parent?

| was the contest officially orgnized by the usfa...in this case, sending the votes by fax to a 617 was dumb !!!they should have sent them to the organizator of the event directly to avoid any problem. |

| Fencing.Net Best Site Survey? What do you think? Anyone want to help organize an online contest for best web site?
Since it would be run from here, this site would be unable to compete. (Since I would have access to the voting info, that wouldn't quite be kosher.)
What ratings should be used?
I figure ranks for:
- design
- timliness (is it updated regularly)
- information (relevant to the mission of the site)
- usability (can you easily find what you're looking for)
Anything else? |

| This stie should have won, it's updated constantly, has GREAT information, and is very easy to use, I recamend it to all of my friends! I really wish that Fencing.net won. OH and my dad (he's and IP consultant) thinks that this site has a nice design. I thinlk that this site is MUCH better that the USFA's site.

| It's nice to know that someone or a group tries to make a great looking fencing website and that American Fencing recognizes those efforts.
But, in general, I like to go to a lot of fencing websites to get as much information as possible whether they use the top of the line web applications or have only low-budget HTML code.
Craig has wowwed the fencing community (shameless brown-nosing) with this useful website. Those with web-access try to visit here at least once and it comes up in conversation at the salle or a competition. |
