Lexan Replacement Sheild

Recently at JO qualifiers i was told by the armorer that the replacement sheilds on lexan masks aren't interchangable. I Have a 2009 AF FIE sabre lexan mask. I looked on their website for replacement sheilds, but couldn't find any. Any ideas as to where i might find one?

Try giving Absolute a call. Their visor mask only came out a couple of months ago so they may have yet to list everything that goes with it on their web site.

That brings up a point....I can see a fencer replacing the lexan with one from another brand if he doesn't know that they're made specifically FOR each brand. I can imagine that might put undue stress on the plate, contributing to a potential failure.

Note to self: Check and see if there's a maker's mark on the lexan next time one crosses your table.

Will have to check the rules, but I believe each mask MUST use the lexan made for it...someone presenting a PBT mask with an Uhlmann plate might be looking at the mask being confiscated as a safety concern.

I called them and they have them in stock. But yes, if that armorer didn't tell me that they had to be the same brand i probably would have went out and bought a leon paul or PBT one.
