Funny, perhaps, though not decidedly relevant.

I think that perhaps some sort of strong "blessing" effect on local tournaments should take place. For example, perhaps tournaments which reached A4 level and do not have any upheld complaints registered against them in the previous year should be posted on the National website?

There's three Div I NACs (restricted to fencers rated C & above) this year--Columbus, San Diego, and Overland Park. There's two II/III NACs (highest rating allowed a C)--Orlando just past, and Arlington. So there are actually more NACs.

What about Pittsburgh?

The year was 2002: A crazy man was in the White House, the US was at war in the Middle East, and everybody loved the flick.

Actually, I found it interesting to re-read this thread. It was quite fascinating to see some of the stuff talked about there, and then then look at how it applies to now. One thing in particular was the question about how one finds out about good local and regional events.

I think Peet and FRED answered that question pretty convincingly over the past 3 years.

FRED tells you how good an event is looking/has looked in the past. It doesn't cover how well organized they are, or tell you which names to examine.

Actually, when I recall how many times someone has started a thread here and been told rather quickly to do a search for an older thread that already covers their query, shouldn't we be happy that they did (even if their reply effectively revived the entire thread)?

Well, as for me, I've found that I tend to get in "the zone" very easily when I'm feeling under the weather. And I tend to fence better when I'm just being loose and having fun, than I do when I'm being intense and trying hard to win.

So if anecdotal evidence suffices, then I'm siding with Inq on this one.
