    Fencing Wiki

    http://fencing.wikia.com/

Some guy originally made this Wiki and didn't edit it- ever. And if you know Wikis from Wikia after a long period of time you can "adopt" them. I adopted Fencing Wiki. I cleaned up the main page but I need some help editing it.

Anyway, I posted this thread to get YOU! That's right, You, to get YOU! To contribute towards it.

none. i'm pointing it out mostly because this won't be the first wiki for fencing to pop up, and historically no one has contributed to any of them. there's another one out there too, i just can't recall the url.

FNet's has 23. Which is more than the 2 in Wikia's.

Which is like more than the 2 Wikia has now.
True, but with effort I could add alot. I also doubt those Wiki's get edited that much. You'll see... You'll see...

I am sure the number of articles on those wikis is only low because you haven't taken them over and posted here about it.

Why not put that same effort into either FNet's or Wikipedia's where there's a higher established base and significantly higher profile?

Or better yet, put that effort into actually learning about fencing so that if you decide in the future to put information in a wiki it'll actually be accurate.

Some of what I can imagine being useful on a wiki might not meet wikipedia's standard of notability.

I've gotten completely tired of fighting Wikipedia edit wars. Much better to work on one that isn't filled with so many wrong people

    I tried for a while.

But it might be worthwhile to note that even I haven't updated the Smith Fencing page since *before* my brief stint as president.....

I'm going to start a Google Wave on fencing, for those of you nerds that are also on it.

For now, it's completely empty. You can find it by doing a search for

    with:public tag:f.net

We can add more tags later, but I figured this forum's community can get first crack at it.

    Fencing Rules wiki

The one place that has always seemed like it needed a wiki is the rules

An annotated set of the rules with a wiki entry for each article, crosslinked to the definitions and supporting articles (translations, international applications and referee guidelines as published, videos, and discussion threads).

This would probably help immensely with the frequent rules threads that emerge, especially the ROW threads. It would at least achieve two things, a quick point of reference for rules and supporting discussion, and a easy way to find and reference rules in later discussion.
