Array So...anyone else in USFA senior management want to resign so as to position themselves to pick up a National Coach position?

darius My bet is on Kurt to resign to be CEO of Hang a Star. -
Shall we try to start a discussion again as to whether there will be new HP Director, or is the USFA going to go in another direction? -

The USFA has come out and said that the role will be split between Kurt and Christine - what is there to discuss? -

It was my impression that what you describe is a temporary deal, until the USFA decides about hiring an experienced HP director, with the goal of designing a plan for the 2012 Olympics among other things. If the USFA has decided to leave that up to the various National Coaches, and not hire a new HP director, fine. I just was not sure what the plan really is. -

Nothing in there indicates the change is temporary. -

In reality, we seem to have a problem keeping HP Directors. My guess is that Kurt and Christine want to poke the responsibilities with a theoretical stick to figure out if it's the position that's broken, or if we've had bad luck in people for the position, or some mixture of both.... and THEN figure out exactly what's to be done.
Given that we're in an Olympic lull at the moment, it seems reasonable to try to do that sooner rather than later. -

US Fencing Association So will the Women's Foil and Women's Epee Coaches be selecting an HPD anytime soon?

Array I think Ro will be the new HPD, Mike Pederson will take over as WE national coach. Christine Simmons will be interim WF national coach. Kurt will take over as interim assistant executive director, Courtney Winninger will be interim ED while Dana Brown will absorb Courtney's former position. The BoD will meet and perform a chinese fire drill. The Pacific Coast Section and the Metropolitan Section will trade places although the division(s) in each will remain where they are. Alaska will join the Southeast Section while Florida will go rogue and be part of Cuba's Fencing Federation.
If that don't generate 300 gold medals for the US/Florida-as-part-of-Cuba, I don't know what will. -

We are only in a lull because there is no real leadership - you can be sure that the Italians/French/Germans/Chinese etc....are not in a lull but rather using the time between games to train and plan to succeed rather than wasting the time on politics and lack of direction. -

Are you suggesting that the USFA hire a prominent coach from one of the leading fencing countries you mention to take over as HP director? This is done quite often in team sports; I'm sure it's been done in fencing as well. -

Which is the real problem with the HPD job. -
