| The Arconian Open Alright, this can be the thread for the tournament, if there are no objections. A few questions for the queen, though:
First, what weapon is it? Regular fencing (foil, etc.), or rapier (closest real combat to fencing)? Or is it open weapon, competitors' choice?
Second, if it's open, how are the weapons regulated? There have to be some rules on it. I'm personally preferable to open weapon, and further, I think that they shouldn't be very limited. After all, if you can beat everybody else there, it shouldn't matter what weapon you used, as long as it's fair. For example, no bows. So maybe just eliminate projectile weapons?
The other thing you need to determine is number of weapons. Fencing Angel and I are thinking just as many weapons as you can carry - in your hands (no sheaths). Which would mean a maximum of two for most people.
A rule I think should be in there - before the match (if it's open weapon), each fighter would have to know what his opponent is using - only fair.
Third thing - how are we, as authors, going to run this? Not many people are actually going to be in it. Plenty of characters, but not so many actual people. Zelda, Angelo, Nękos, maybe Serana will be the only big ones I can think of. Unless Jo wants to join, but she's got to get through Nani first! I'm going to throw another character (Senyik Devlinn) in, but I know he's not going to win. Who else is still here? Would Nick Marsteria join? That seems a little weird to me...
Anyway, the point I'm getting to is that if there's only three or four authors involved, we might be able to agree beforehand what will happen, and just write it out in narrative. If not, then there's going to be plenty of confusion as to who beat whom when.
So there we go, Zelda -
1. What weapon will it be, or open weapons?
2. If open weapons, how are you going to regulate them?
3. How are we as authors going to pull this off?
Input appreciated from all authors, whether your characters are involved or not. PM me if you're one of the people who will definitely be in, and want to discuss who will do how well. I'm currently Senyik Devlinn on AIM, and my email is swordsman@fencingmail.com.

| Ok, it will be rapier with foil target but sabre rules (it side cuts count).
As to how we are going to pull it off, well I'm still working on that......lets just see who turns up first!

| Wow, complete monkey wrench in my gears. I was hoping it would be open weapon - use whatever you want. Wouldn't that make more sense? It doesn't matter what you can win with, as long as you can win...

| You da queen.
Just my two cents' worth, but rapier it is. Now we just need to figure out who's in it, and how we're going to work it.

| The journeyman's named Senyik Devlinn. He and Larya and Evan are going to be regular characters here, just as much as Nękos (who will probably actually fade more to the background after the tournament).

| Nicholas could perhaps take place in the tourney with the intention of turning over the throne to Zelda if he should win, if that is allowable. Hmmm.....

| Now, now Moon...you're telling tales about a married man to his wife.
A little sensitivity, if you please...

| Well, it was written & alluded to. Sorry. If you want to change it, that's fine with me. In the novel, I'll write it the way Arcon & I originally intended. So it's really no biggie to me what happens to my character or anything else here.
If this comes off as grumpy, sorry. There are reasons I really don't feel like discussing.
