Foil tip tape I went to my first competition this weekend and had a great time. However, my tape of my foil took a pretty good beating. I was wondering where i could get some new tape. I know some fencing stores sell it but i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get some in either blue or orange(or both)? thanks! -

Go to a photography story and get some 1 inch wide gaffer's tape...that's what I sell.
I sell blue and have sold a somewhat neon orange. I need to restock a little anyway. Want me to pick you up a roll?? $10 for a 180 ft roll. -

Array Gaff tape is the way to go. If you live in the wilds somewhere and either just can't find it or don't want to order it, you can also use tennis racket tape. Which is Gaff tape but with a hefty markup. Just another lost soul saved by the (hit) First Church of EPEE!

If there's a college near you, even a community college, they often have it in their book store for either photography or theater classes (gaffer's tape is used to "strike" the stage quite often). -

I personally prefer 3/4" tape (19mm) which is standard for the tape you get from fencing suppliers.
Many places call it Camera tape to distinguish less than 2". It is called gaffers when 2" or greater.
A great On-line store or brick store for those in Southern California is FilmTool www.FilmTool.com They have everything if you are a budding filmmaker.

Array I often use the athletic tape. More commonly used for taping ankles and such. It also works well as a temporary patch on a glove, sock, shoe, knickers, or even a jacket. If you give a man a fire, he is warm for the night.

Array Athletic tape leave too much residue. Gaff usually comes off clean.
Next to getting gaff from a theatrical supply store, you can almost always find Gamma head racquet tape (in black) at a sporting goods store. It's very durable. -
is the gamma head racquet tape puffy? cuz my blade right now is taped with Gamma but its a thin layer ? -

Array No
Gamma is thicker than gaff, but is a flat fabric tape with a non-aggressive, come clean adhesive. It's a good tip tape, but typically pricey. -

Array Hockey tape works well from what I remember.

Array yeah, that's it. Most big sporting goods stores have it. It's good tape, it's just expensive. -

How often do you plan to retape your blade? If you use 6" each time, then 25' lasts 50 re-tapes. If you retape one blade each week, this will last you a year. If you're like most of us, then 25' will last you several years.

like 2 weeks or so or more? depends on the sort of stuff i'm doing. and scratch that, its 15 feet. -

I paid about 20 of your dollars for 45 metres of gaffer tape. Should last a while -- especially as one of the kids is talking about taking up epee. -
what tape are you speaking off purple? -
