How do you practice solo? This is definitely a topic of interest, and I'm glad I'm not the only one in this situation! I can do the footwork, hiking to strengthen my legs, weights (if I must) for strength. But I would be interested to know how others in this boat keep themselves motivated. Not being able to go to a club regularly and work with teammates, it's hard to keep my focus and motivation. "You don't always win your battles, but it's good to know you

Array My current routine for self training at home in my apartment is starting off with a basic workout like jumping ropes, Pushups, situps, jumping jacks, toe touches etc.
Then I put on my weight vest, practice footwork and lunging.
Next up I go to my fencing dummy for practicing various technique or the golf ball on a string for point control for a while.
I then head over to my vcr and put in a fencing video tape (I like Selsberg ones best) and use an electro muscle stimulator while I watch it to work some of my muscle groups that I want to build up.
After that I fix myself some dinner and relax with a gatorade for mental training visuallizing different actions, setups and counters to the traps that I've seen or come against in the recent tourneys or bouting. -

Array Is there anyway to practice bladework at home, I'm already doing good at point control. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

Why do I suddenly think of that movie, Taxi Driver?
I notice, MikeHarm, that you nowhere mention taking a shower. -

Array I do footwork, lunges, practice my point control and keep an eye on my form the entire time. I try to mix in a good amount of off-hand footwork and lunges as well, to try and prevent lopsided-ness.
I also do sit-ups, push-ups, and various other stuff not strictly fencing-related.
Sometimes, when I've made sure that no one is looking, I talk to myself while doing all of this alone. I strip down to just my shorts and smear calf's blood over my chest while practicing my fencing in a ring of fire. It helps out on cold nights. -

Array i try to remember to practice gaining RoW. Fencing will always be a "for love of the game" sport.
