Colbert Report Speedskating Sponsorship If someone from the USFA is not already working on getting the Colbert Report to sponsor US Fencing once the Winter Olympics are behind us they are making a big mistake. -

Array Because he got his audience to give US Speed Skating piles of cash? -

In addition to the front and center donate button, there is a "news" story ("Don't Be An Ice-Hole") about the Canadians not allowing the US Team ice time to practice at the Olympic facility, inviting them to write in protest. A similar effort might influence USOC/IOC to add medal events and medals for 4th team members. -

Also, speedskating actually had a decent sponsor before, where as the USFA... doesn't. I'm happy for speedskating, but this isn't the kind of bandwagon everyone can jump on. -

While the bankrupt Dutch bank might be pretty decent to you, I doubt it had much to do with the decision by Colbert Report. That is correct, which is why now it the time to book our ticket on the bandwagon for the last two years of the quad. Essentially, Fencing is to the Summer Olympics which Speedskating is to the Winter Olympics. -

Array But skating is a winter sport, suited to Coldbert weather. Whereas in fencing our Lexan masks are damaged by exposure to the Coldbert. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -
I think this is a great idea. He has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for speedskating. And there is an opening -- he loves to do this kind of sponsorship thing and it is natural to also pick a summer Olympic sport.
Fencing is also a good match as Colbert makes it clear he is a big fan of lots of quirky, geeky things -- superheroes, he was a huge Dungeons and Dragons player, etc. I know that is not a perfect crossover with fencing, but I think there is certainly indication that he might be open to the idea.
I think this is the perfect thing for Morehouse to be working on, for example. Similar Threads -
