Lou Dobbs to leave CNN (effective immediately)

Lou Dobbs says he is leaving CNN
    AP - 11/11/2009 9:20:42 AM

"CNN host Lou Dobbs says he is leaving CNN effective immediately.

The longtime host of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" said Wednesday on his show that it would be his last. He said CNN had allowed him to be released from his contact, which would enable him "to pursue new opportunities."

He said he was considering a number of options.

The longest-running anchor on CNN's air, Dobbs was one of the nation's leading financial journalists before turning his program in a more opinionated direction. His persistent advocacy against illegal immigration angered many."

    My opinion is "Good Riddance".

I agree that's the right place for Dobbs (home for ranting demagogues) but supposedly no:

"Mr. Dobbs met with Roger Ailes, the chairman of the Fox News Channel, in September. At the time Mr. Dobbs was viewed as a potential hire for the Fox Business Network. But a Fox spokesperson said Wednesday, “We have not had any discussions with Lou Dobbs for Fox News or Fox Business.”

Remember that Dobbs also has his radio show for spreading paranoid delusions, so maybe he'll try to do the Rushbo thing.

Paranoid delusions = things Jeff doesn't agree with.

I really find it humorous how just about every argument/post made here regarding anything counter liberal-agenda winds up coming back to a Fox and/or Limbaugh reference. Talk about brainwashed.

You're wrong again. I don't mind an editorial stance for an position I oppose, I mind delusional and dishonest ones. What I had in mind was Dobbs supporting the "birthers" who claim that Obama is not a US citizen.

That's delusional, along with some of the paranoid delusions supported by Fox News and Rush Limbaugh: such as death panels and the claim that Obama has a secret plot to bring the country to a dictatorship. If that's not paranoid delusion, then there is no such thing.

But, you see them all as reasonable, which indicates how thoroughly you have been brainwashed. Slim is projecting his delusions onto other people again.

    Of course I am.

Anyone with a different political slant who disagrees with your positions is always wrong. On everything. This is the liberal way. Discredit and demonize.

I do like the way Fox and Limbaugh get under liberal's skin, as evident by the number of times it gets referenced here. Almost as much as Palin's wardrobe.

All you do by talking about them all the time is give them more exposure and increase their audiences. But keep it up. It's working well.

Maybe if the right had referenced AirAmerica in every other sentence written or spoken, it wouldnt have faded away and been replaced with Spanish language stations. Hahaha.

    nice sidestep.

so, just for clarity, would you mind addressing what jeff said?

could you rationally explain why the birther movement was valid?
could you rationally explain why people think obama wants to move the country towards a dictatorship?
could you rationally explain the death panel concept and where it was outlined in the bill in question?

there are lots of politics that i disagree with, but can see a rational process and backing behind, so i respect it and the people who hold those beliefs. this stuff does not fall into that camp.

Nah....he'll just pull a Prejean like on Larry King, disconnect the mike when an uncomfortable question pops up, and refuse to answer (GOD she's a waste of space)

Thank you noodle. And to paraphrase Obama, "No he can't".

The answer to all of the above, of course, is that it simply makes "flashy news". They were given validity by news organizations (not just Fox) by being given serious attention that they didn't deserve, and frankly weren't getting from most people beforehand (IMHO).

EDIT: I'm also of the opinion that most people, even the conservatives, recognize most of this as silly. Unfortunately, their serious tone in the media makes it seem like it's a larger majority of conservatives involved, when in fact it's simply a vocal minority. $.02.

I thought it would be good to let this age a few days... and of course Slim hasn't been willing or able to respond.

Perhaps somebody would be willing to take the time to count the number of time he attempted to "discredit and demonize" (his accusation against others, but one that really applies to him) and then runs away when exposed or called on it.

For what it's worth, my very conservative parents have many friends who appear to genuinely believe the birther line.

I've no doubt they're out there. I simply think they are a far smaller minority than the media frenzy may lead us to believe.
