Borrowing from the famous Winkel tower designs of WW2, the new improved visor mask offers greatly improved blade deflection and reduced probability of a penetrating blow.
The mask is also expected to gain increased media attention.
"a braggart, a rogue, a villaine that fights by the book of arithmatick. Why the dev'l came you betweene us?.."

(AP Lausanne Switzerland) FIE has reached a licencing agreement with Mad Magazine. While the terms of the licencing agreeement is not immediately available, FIE has agreed to pay an undisclosed licencing fee to Mad Magazine. FIE announced that it expects to recover this fee from mask manufacturers, who plan to pass the fee onto purchasers.
FIE also announced today that it is mandating the use of this improved mask at all FIE sanctioned competitions and practices. Effectively immediately, all fencing practices are automatically sanctioned by FIE.
USFA has yet to issue a statement on this development. A source familiar with USFA told us that it is waiting for someone to translate the FIE press release before issueing a statement.
