Darn right I'm there! Usually pretty fun, though it's been getting quite crowded (I know, the more the merrier, just hard to handle the mob! :P )

I'll be there in some form. Maybe fencing, maybe refereeing. Probably both.

I'll be there, unless I start feeling like crap again. Mens Epee is at the quite reasonable time of 1:30 pm, so I can't complain (fencing before 10:00 am is for foilists ).

I'm on the UWO team, btw. It'd be cool to meet any1 from F.net. Just look for the purple guys xD

Last year was very crowded and ran way over time.

If ME starts at 2:00 I will be astounded.

    I will probably go anyway...

A nice warm up for Brock?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect your event to start on time...

Last year it was flooded by a large amount of beginner fencers from different clubs and schools. Which isn't a bad thing by any means, the point of OCC tournaments is development! However, the space and number of referees were certainly strained, and probably will be again.

I fenced two events and still managed a full day of refereeing last year...a busy day!

Late I can deal with. It's the driving an hour (or four if you're going to Kingston) then fencing at 8:00 am or some ungodly hour that gets me. If I don't get my beauty sleep I suck more than usual...and I look terrible too. If they run late it will mean I might even be warmed up by the time I need to fence. I take forever to get loose...at the OCC Finals in May I wasn't physically loose until the DEs (and my brain was elsewhere, so I quickly lost). SAC has a nice campus. I can get some air while I wait....

Ha ha. I hear you. I am not a morning person either.

Lately it has struck me how much fun it is to fence and train in the club in the evenings. My head is clear then.

Sort of related: I am wondering if Mike scheduled epee for 1:30 as a courtesy to Igor, who is having his club tournament (epee of course) on Sunday morning.

I am pondering doing Igor's at 10:00, and then scooting what is left of me over to Newmarket. That would make one heck of an epee day.

Unfortunately I have to miss Newmarket this month but at least I should be able to get to the Brock Open (Nov. 21 - 22). Anyone else going to St. Catharines?

Brock Open is not to be missed. Love that gym with the huge windows at the one end. I am a sucker for big architecture.

The Brock venue is great. Its a shame they don't host more events.

I never thought of that. I was considering the SWP tournament too until they moved the Newmarket tourney to November from December.

Is it sad that I just spent five minutes trying to figure out who the posters on this thread were (other than Dan and Victor)?

Only to find out that none of them has been fencing long enough for me to have known them when I was in Canada?

    Nevermind. It probably is.

Isn’t that the way with online personas. I’ve never had a problem with using my name/initial as a username. Dan probably feels much the same way. However most like to keep their online identity rather guarded. I’m reluctant to use your real name Kalivor as I’m not sure how you would feel. I presume you’ve adopted that username years ago for a specific reason. Fencers do come and go, that’s a fact. You would probably not recognize half of them at local Ontario events these days even though you’ve only been out of the country for – what? 3 years now? I see your name pop up from time to time on the British fencing results page. Do you have any plans to return to Canada?

Ha, I didn't figure out who kalivor was until I read Victor's post :P Good to see you're still 'active' even if its on the other side of the ocean. Hows life over there?

I haven't figured anyone else out yet, although I feel like I should know dctaslick.

I was the other guy wearing the green hat at Septemberfest. You'd know me to see me, Dan. You did my mask-check at Queens, too.

I have a Calculus exam at 7:00PM on the Saturday...

Lol, yea. This is going to be my first tournament! And I still need another weapon and a lamé that fits before I can fence, but I hear that Flèche equipment is going to be there?
