I presume you’ve adopted that username years ago for a specific reason. Fencers do come and go, that’s a fact. You would probably not recognize half of them at local Ontario events these days even though you’ve only been out of the country for – what? 3 years now? I see your name pop up from time to time on the British fencing results page. Do you have any plans to return to Canada?
Canada? Eventually I expect to be back. The career is going well over here, though, so I'm not in a hurry.

My name's not really a secret. "Kalivor" is just the username I selected for everything on the internet back in its youth when everything was assumed to be anonymous. I usually go by "mrtopp" now, but kalivor lives on in a couple of forums and a gmail address.

I don't think that you can contribute to an online forum on a regular basis and maintain anonymity. Nor can you have an online presence (blogs, twitters, e-mails, etc.) and maintain anonymity. People who know you will be able to find it, and people who want to identify you will be successful. I liked "kalivor" because I was the only one. Now there are a couple of others mucking it up for me. I don't think it was ever very anonymous.

But I certainly have digressed. How about that Newmarket, eh?

You're certainly right about mask check. Only thing I remember from Men's epee mask check is the smell...oO That and the guy who seemed surprised his mask failed after I inserted my fingers through the front and wiggled them where his face would be...

And yeah wetmelon, I'm sure fleche will be there.

OK ... if I had that, it would probably be a face I'd remember.

I wasn't saying that he would know me from Queens...just that he would know that he's seen me around, including Queens. I think Dan knows who I am now...he reffed one of my poule bouts. I won 5-0, so I think he's good luck for me!

Lol Dan? Yea... He just started fencing this September, I think? He's gotten rather good quickly. I fenced him the other day, gave me a run for my money.. until I realized I had to fence "proper"...

Yea we don't have any decent rental/team equipment. I'm gonna have to visit the Fleche booth before 10:00am for Brock :P

    Meet at Brock

I'll be setting up a small 'meet and greet' space for those of you who are going to Brock and wish to meet other f.net members. When you enter the main gym look along the wall where the doors are located and you should find a message board. Look for a 'fencing.net' poster featuring my avatar. Feel free to leave a message on the board so we can spot you on the piste. I'll be fencing Vet Men's Foil on Saturday but I'll be sure to drop by the board whenever I have the chance.

    Hope to see you there!

I do indeed know you now. Taking the D out of your username would also have made it clearer :P

I will be at brock, fencing foil and refereeing everything else.

I'll be the one wearing white.

Well... I met a few Western fencers (all sabre) but none of them seemed to know a 'Wetmelon'. I did get a few curious glances though!

Brock was great, other than the bloody floor. I think I've done two lunges and one fleche all day, reluying on defensiev and counterofefsnive actions for the most part. Coming back afetr a knee surgery it wasn't worth going all out on that ice rink.
(That and my hometown should hopefully tell most of you who I am).

Omg yea that floor was bad. That's why they had all those carpets out xD

(And I'm clueless as to who you are, sorry :P)

    I hate that.

I mean first the blood starts off making the floor all wet and slick and there's no traction. Then it dries a bit and becomes all tacky and there's too much traction. It's so difficult to keep a bloody floor at that happy medium where fencing can reasonably take place.

Lol. Finally got my results back from Brock. A solid 30/50. 40th coming out of pools. Not bad for a first tournament and a hard pool (Riley, Busse, Wang, Coia, ??). I'm happy with it
