Array And since when did the Democratic Party--with majorities in the House and Senate, plus the Presidency--become Spineless Sams on the issue of allowing women to purchase a health care plan that covers legal procedures like abortion? Since it probably wouldn't passed otherwise. it can always be fixed later, but not if it doesn't pass in the first place. -

I don't want to pay for my neighbor's viagra. Let him do it the old fashioned way. California poppy, kava and fresh oats. Fresh oats, nettle leaves and seaweed. Ginkgo. Whatever. But close the curtains, please. -

Array Fox News Reports: Millions of Grannies Flee U.S. as Death Panels Loom Glenn Beck: "Run For Your Lives"
WASHINGTON - With the establishment of government-mandated death panels just days away, grandmothers began fleeing the United States in record numbers today, reports Fox News.
"I am never one to yell ‘Fire' in a crowded theater," said Fox News host Glenn Beck. "But run for your lives!"
Across the country, slow-moving caravans of 1980s-era Cadillacs with turn signals blinking were making the torturous journey to the Canadian border, their back seats laden with cats, knitting projects, and bottles of Ensure.
Fox News may have set off the mass exodus by warning grannies that if they did not flee quickly enough they would face government-mandated organ harvesting.
Elsewhere, anti-healthcare protesters objected to the language of the House bill, saying there were too many polysyllabic words. "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Dont pop the campaign (bought at taxpayers expense) just yet. Something will get passed in 2010. When it does, I'll be drinking sparkling apple cider. I'll save you some. -

Array Here is my sugestion for the public option:
Make the public option carry a $5000 deductible. If people will have to pay up front, they will not be as likely to abuse it. This will also get them more involved in their daily healh decitions. Also, doctors will be happy because they will be getting cash up front, and not having to deal with insurance company delays. I fell like this would stop healthcare bankrupcy without just handing everything out for free. "There is a fine line between clever and stupid" David St. Hubbins -

Imagine those stupid, mindless old people that cant think for themselves. What a bunch of morons. Sure is some truth to this, no?
And those that dont agree with the current Pelosi-care "plan"(?), well, obviously their just to stupid to get it. Nevermind big words. Truth to this too, no?

And touchy, too. This, coming from a guy is a clown-faced rendition of Obama's face. Oh, so you think what you have is funny, but not what somebody else does. "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

I thought liberals were supposed to be the caring, tolerant ones?
What I have is not meant to be funny. Its creepy. And annoys liberals.

I fell like this would stop healthcare bankrupcy without just handing everything out for free. My issue with that is not so much the high deductible, but the payment to providers up to that point. I had a kidney stone hit a few weeks ago....and since my wife lost her job in July, I have no coverage....so that almost $2000 bill is on my head. Fortunately, the hospital is giving a discount and payment plan, but it's still a struggle to make those payment along with everything else.
Contrast that with the stone I had in 03 where I only paid a small copayment ($50, I think), on a bill that topped $8000 (I was kept overnight at that time).
God forbid I get into a bad car wreck and spend some time in a coma or need extensive care....
I have no problem paying for insurance by whatever means works well for me...be it a private insurer or one administered by the government....I just want something that is affordable and will do the job when I need it.
I could always look into the VA for some of my care, since I'm a vet, but Sandy would not be covered, as I did not retire from the military. Right now her asthma inhalers cost her about $150 a month...up from $30 per month when she had coverage.
Fortunately, the endometrial ablation she got when she HAD full coverage (cauterizing her uterus to eliminate the VERY heavy monthly bleeding....she was anemic) solved a LOT of her breathing problems (having enough blood to carry oxygen will do that), but had she not been able to get the procedure, she'd be in a VERY bad way right now....emergency room trips aren't cheap.
