    Enterprising fencing parent?

I'm not in to the whole Halloween (or parenting) thing, so I'm not sure whether this fencing parent is being enterprising or lazy, but I heard a local parent will be walking around their neighborhood Halloween night with his kid dressed in her fencing gear. The guy said he figures the kid already has a mask, why not use it for Halloween?

To avoid any problems created by walking around in the dark with a pointy object, the father and daughter are supposedly debating whether to borrow a Nerf sabre or just stick the point of a regular weapon into a stuffed bunny or somesuch. The father plans on carrying around some flyers about fencing to hand to any kids and parents who express interest.

My coach tells his students that on Halloween, you dress up in a costume as something you aren't. "You ARE fencers," he says, so it's not a costume.

Yeah, but for the vast majority of people, it WOULD be a Haloween costume...I wore my uni to work a few years ago, and the UPS guy didn't believe at first that I'd actually wear such a thing in public...go fig.

I like the flyer idea, tho!

Wore one for a year or so, back when I experimented with ordering my own stuff. Triplette had one. It was inconvenient to wear.

I like my unitard. The only trouble with it is it's a bit more to take off if you've got lots of time between rounds and you want to move to something drier. Also, if your cord goes bad, it's harder to thread a new one through without removing. For me, it's quite comfortable, though.

I am not sure what the ceremony is for a peach tree.

Ah, the English degree finally comes in moderately handy. All kidding about avocados aside, an avocation is a hobby.

Of course if the question was tongue in cheek I'm going to feel very stupid, but that's certainly never stopped me before.

Didn't you ever play that dictionary game?
The one where someone pics some unordinary word out of the dictionary and everyone writes down a definition? The definitions are voted on and the winner is the one who gets the most votes. The real derfinition is included in the list.

I used to do very well at that game... heehee
OH MY GOSH, I am watching a show on the Sydney Olympics and they just showed the last point in an Epee bout with the mask coming off.!!!
