Did you find Fencing Time easier to work with when running the tournament?

I never work the computers at this event.

Based upon comments, I believe the people who did preferred it significantly.

O - insight on why some of the schools did not send their top fencers?

Because it's the Temple Open....there's no reason for them to go.

The same reason a football team would put in its second string when playing another football team.

The first string gets hits the field for the Penn State Open.

or maybe the top fencer's from the top schools all get sick the same time every year, but get better a week after that.
Everyone relax cause I got it....

The events that really matter to the coaches are the team events, the dual meets. Individual events such as the Temple Open are really more like warmups for the duals.

But would not top ND and PSU fencers per say, would want to warm up as well?

And then, when you get to club schools--

Many team events require a full squads. Not every fencer wants to go to every tournament ever, particularly if they involve traveling. The nice thing about individual events is that the fencers who want to go and have the experience can do so, the ones better served (for whatever reason) by a weekend at home can do that.

College involves classes. And homework, and other trips, lectures, requirements.... While varsity athletes often can reschedule these things more easily than others, you still have to a time to reschedule them TO....

yes, and they will at the Penn State Open in a couple of weeks.

Penn State (as well as others) use this as a developmental event for their younger fencers.

The really top dogs may also be going to international events as well. Their dance cards are already pretty full.
