    usfa academic all american

I am wondering what the reaction is to this. Seems like a good money maker for the usfa; should have charged more for the application. But, isn't "academic all american" a trademark for espn? Not a lot of fencers with this appellation, Jason Rogers comes to mind.....

    It's a trademark of CoSIDA.

The US Fencing program has been renamed US Fencing All-Academic Team.

It could have been much worse.

"Fencing All-Academic Group," springs to mind. Perhaps "Fencing Ultimate Best Academic Regime"? Then, of course, there's "Fencing Ultra-Collegiate Kids"....

Sounds like a good idea. When Junior and Div I fencers find themselves without events as a result of the proposed schedule, they can just show the college coach the US Fencing All Academic Team certificate. They will get accepted with a scholarship. A fantastic idea--it will bring in tons of money for the USFA so we don't need those really great "sponsors" that will support our three or four
"new" national championships. You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried.
