Hello...no wonder my ears were burning. Sorry I haven't checked by this site lately, but real-world work (non-fencing related) has been a real jungle lately.

Hi, Mergs. It was nice seeing you on your too-brief visit.

BTW, how did you like the "True Detective Sword Stories" piece. I'd feel real cheesy about it, but it was late at night and I was a little punchy. Wierd...and I didn't have to make up a single bit of it.

Hi, D'Artagnan. Think you'll be down for the CLFC tournament?

Thanks to both of you for your kind words. Since I am, as D'Artagnan so eloquently put it, "in the thick of things," I'll be niether divisive nor a cheerleader and not comment on the whole Hamza/Division thread."

To the thread-starter, there are lots of places to fence in the Houston area. We have a breath-taking diversity of ages, skill-levels and perspectives on the art.

I'm going back to work, now...

Hello my friend, I tried e-mailing but got a postmaster error. I really enjoyed the picture you sent of Steve and myself.

Yeah buddy, I'll be there for Nov. 9th rearing to go. I am going over to Trapani's club tomorrow to train with his crew.

I have been out of fencing for a month with work and personal issues. My good friend and supervisor passed away very suddenly on October 7. I've been real busy since. I look forward to seeing you in a week.

I know I've been vocal about the whole Hamza issue. I will reiterate the fact that I do not have anything personal against the man as far as his club is concerned. I simply feel insulted that he ignores my e-mails. Is my reputation so great and fearsome that he does not want me creaming his fencers?

Mauro and his wife are both great coaches and genuinely nice people.

If you really want to get in contact, find a medium with less latency than e-mail.

E-mail accounts lapse, are ignored, are used as spam-buckets, or simply are not read by people uncomfortable with the medium. Many coaches have eager students who set them up with e-mail and websites and go their merry way, while the coaches are left behind unable to use them (why do you think so many club websites are never updated?). Use the phone or visit.

    Ronin,

I spoke with Coach Brown back on May 18. He told me that at the time, his e-mail had changed and had yet to be updated. I would recommend trying john@trojanowski.com. He fences with Clear Lake and can tell you anything you need to know.
